Orchestra holds annual masquerade

Every year, the Orchestra department holds their Annual Masquerade Concert.  To make it more exciting, they do not just sit on the stage and play their instruments, but instead, the Orchestra wears costumes to add a touch of Halloween to the theme. Musicians not only had on thrilling and bone-chilling attire, but so did the audience. Among them were elementary school students showed up in their finest Halloween apparel.

One of the Orchestra’s very own violinists, Gabe Martino, 10, spoke about the event and the things he expected from the night. “It’s going be Halloween-themed, and mysterious pieces are going to be played. I play the violin and the music pieces are a challenge. We have the concert to gain attention to the Orchestra program and for people to appreciate the music while having fun.”

As well as music, a petting zoo of instruments was also provided for the children attending the concert. “The petting zoo is where little kids who’ve seen instruments can experience what it’s like to have and hold an instrument in their hands.” Many Orchestra students enjoy the ‘once in a blue moon’ event at AHS.

When asked which concert theme he preferred, Martino’s response was an easy decision. “Masquerade for sure! It is way more fun than our regular concerts and we have freedom to express ourselves through costumes.”
