Beginning today, several AHS choral students will be participating in the District Chorus event. Students auditioned for this honor’s choir earlier in the school year and the performance is this Saturday at 12:30.
Students will be in rehearsals all of Friday and part of Saturday to prepare for the concert on Saturday. The selected students were given music earlier this year to prepare for these rehearsals.
The District 10 Chorus is a great way for students to meet talented singers from other schools as well as gaining more performance experience.
“I’m really excited to be in District Chorus because it’s a chance to get to know other kids that have a love for music like I do,” Sophomore Deanna Gowland said.
It’s also an excellent opportunity for students to work with guest conductors. Conductors this year include David Castonguay from Radford University, and Brian Gendron from the Alexandria Choral Society.
“I love getting the chance to perform outside of school,” Gowland said.
The District Chorus will be performing Saturday at 12:30 pm at West Potomac High School. Go and support your fellow classmates by joining them for this special concert.
