A school wide announcement stating that starting on Jan. 3, whoever parks at Ossian Park without a parking pass issued by the school would receive a car citation and automatically get towed. The fine would be paid by the owner.
Since the beginning of the school year many students have been parking at Ossian Hall without paying the school.
Ever since Ossian Hall was opened, it offered more available parking for students, which let more kids drive to school. But soon that privilege got abused.
Before Ossian, many students who didn’t have a parking spot usually parked in the lot by the Church, or in Heritage shopping center, and not only was the administration getting upset, the owners of the buildings and mall were complaining and getting angry. So when Ossian opened, it was a great relief for all of them.
Parking for students is extremely expensive, $200 per car, and the kids that drive, but don’t have the money to pay for parking still use the spaces reserved for paid students. It has become more of an issue because students who paid for parking and have a reserved spot, don’t have a spot because someone took theirs.
“I believe that they are going way too far with it, more and more students are able to drive so they should expand the parking and decrease the price of it,” senior Alex Williams said.
Like Williams, many of the students are upset and angry that the administration would go this far to make sure that people who can’t park there, don’t park there.
