Students from the Richard Wright Public Charter School for Journalism and Media Arts visited journalism students to learn about the The A-Blast on Dec. 12. Wright Charter School, which was founded two years ago, serves students in grades 8-10. As a burgeoning program, faculty and students have studied other reputable schools’ newspapers in order to better their own.
Students at Wright Charter School must be admitted, and show an interest in the media arts.
“I love to write,” sophomore Jade Love said. “We are a new school, so we do not have the same sort of lockers, lunches and facilities as AHS.”
For these students, their trip to The A-Blast was helpful in aiding their understanding of the changing world of student journalism.
“I learned how long it takes to make and publish a newspaper,” Love said.
Students asked questions regarding the creation, editing and distribution processes that The A-Blast follows.
