Interim grades were due and put into the gradebook on Tuesday, May 8th. This milestone signifies that of AHS’s students are now halfway through the fourth quarter. The reality that there are merely 5 weeks left has put students into overdrive.
Final exam week and SOL’s have students’ full focus and attention. The year coming to a close is proving that a long weary year is still not yet over and that there is still work to be done.
Although this year has been tough on students, many have stayed motivated and will be satisfied with their interim grades. “The first few weeks were learning new material so it wasn’t any easier than other quarters,” sophomore Carly Potts said. “The remainder of the year should be easy since it’s mostly review.”
Aside from serious students, there are always those who do not make as much of an effort as the year comes to a close. “I could have tried harder, but I still have a few weeks to get my grades to where they should be,” sophomore Zac Mahboob said.
“I could either be very happy or very unhappy with my interim grades. I’m anxious to find out the results,” freshman Leah Turner said.
Most teachers have finished teaching all new material and they will soon begin refreshing the minds of the students.
“I have review games, sheets, and various activities planned for [students],” history teacher Sean Miller told his freshman class. “It should be a time to wind down and be easy on you guys, but it is still very beneficial.”
After these last 5 weeks, students will be given their final grades for the year in their report cards. This will end the year, and seal their GPA’s until fall returns, bringing the cycle of school into full circle once again.
