The Red Cross Club is holding a children’s toy drive from March 6 to April 1. Any new or used toys that are not broken or of ill quality are being collected. Donation boxes are set up in Student Services as well as several other classrooms.
“We are expecting to probably collect items such as stuffed animals, barbie dolls and other things like that,” sophomore Rizwana Noor, who is in charge of the project, said.
New toys are expected to be donated to hospitals. Used toys could possibly be donated to a church or a nursery, where children will be able to receive them.
“I think it’s a really good idea and it’s nice that high school students are able to reach out to the kids who are less fortunate,” junior Anne-Marie Little said. “I don’t have any money to go and buy new toys. I will bring some toys in if I have some at home.”
“There are a lot of people who have toys lying around their homes that they can donate,” Noor said. “I really hope that a lot of people will bring many toys in; that way we can help out all of those kids who need them.”
Plans for this project are still under development. The original start date was March 1, but the date was pushed back. Further information for the toy drive will be released at a later date.
