“I think that I challenged myself more for next year since I’m taking three IB classes, but I don’t really want to do the IB Diploma. I’m definitely excited and prepared for next year,” sophomore Ashley Lok said.
Course selections commenced during English classes as sophomores were sent to their counselor. Those who choose to follow the IB Diploma path had to decide which Higher Level and which Standard Level classes would be a part of their schedule. Others chose classes that seem fitting for their parents and themselves.
“I tried to pick classes that were challenging but I could still handle. I’m not the best at math and I will have to learn time management for English. Also at the academy, I’ll be working on more difficult parts of musical theatre,” sophomore Skye Lindberg said.
It is easy to see that sophomores need to prepare themselves for the spotlight that will be upon them junior year, but they also must be reasonable when choosing more challenging classes. While some want their schedule to look good, it is never good to see below average grades in challenging classes.
Mapping out junior year may have been difficult for some but it is assured that they are now ready for the next chapter of high school.
