The College Partnership Program (CPP) is a program that tries to increase the amount of students who enroll in and succeed in college. All grades are welcomed but you have to apply to get a membership. The CPP had a meeting Nov. 30 during R1 flex.
“It helps you get information about scholarships, colleges, and requirements for colleges,” sophomore Varinia Frias said.
The underclassmen all went to the library to work on Family Connections with guidance counselors Cliff Hickman and Nancy Templer, while the seniors stayed in Clausen Hall discussing what colleges they applied to and which colleges they are planning to apply to. The seniors also got to ask any questions they had and also talked about the different types of scholarships they could earn.
“It’s effective, because if I wouldn’t have joined CPP,I would have been lost with applying to colleges and it constantly reminds you to go apply,” senior Eyob Ayalew said.
They discussed how important it was to get good grades your freshman year because after that, it’s hard to bring down your GPA and vice versa. They also discussed how more and more schools are now using the Common App, and how each college has different standards.
