The Online Campus of FCPS
The Online Campus of FCPS winds down online summer school soon for the summer of 2013.
The Online Campus creates a wonderful opportunity for students. Students learn and pass a year’s worth of work in one summer. This produces a great possibility for dedicated and hard working students.
However, the Online Campus establishes a very challenging learning experience. The Online Campus compresses a whole year of work into four weeks, such that a day of summer school equals a week of work in the regular school year. A week of summer school equals a regular quarter. This requires up to seven hours or more of work to be done in one day and teachers ignore all late work. In addition, students must exhibit understanding on new knowledge in tests without much time to absorb the new material.
The Online Campus of FCPS makes a great chance for devoted and diligent students, but it necessitates lots of hard work.
