How TPS will affect people
For many Central American families January 8, 2018 was a day where their lives fell apart. This was all do to the TPS removal that the Trump administration decided to remove which protected illegal immigrants who were escaping their countries for safety and economical reasons.
TPS (Temporary Protected Status) is a type of citizenship that can be granted to individuals who come from one of 10 countries (El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, Nepal, Nicaragua, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen) looking for refuge from their countries.
The countries that are no longer protected by TPS are El Salvador, Haiti, and Nicaragua. With the new government in place (which are very anti- immigrant), many people that are protected by this program have to fear that they might have to go back to there countries and live a whole new way of life.
One major way that the removal of TPS will affect those who are protected is educational wise. Many of the TPS users are students that have come here to look and to better their educational ability.
They will be losing the opportunity to learn and apply those lesson into our society and will most likely have to repeat their studies to get a certification back in their countries. Also the U.S. is one of few countries who offer free public education to every child.
Another major effect that would come in play is the change in lifestyle. Many TPS users are people who go to work and do their job to try and better their lives. One major example would have to be the life in El Salvador.
Right now El Salvador is like a war zone due to the fact that most of the country is corrupt and gangs have taken advantage of the corruption to threaten and kill civilians to get money.
Many illegal immigrants are scared of what the government might do next because in Trump’s first year as president they have already removed DACA and now TPS.
With the government being so anti immigrant, immigrant families are scared for what would happen to them and their loved ones if the government keeps on piling up these rules and regulations.
The government needs to understand that most of the people that immigrated here from their countries is so that they can leave their homes which are full of violence and to seek a better future for their families.
