The World Health Organization recently declared a strong correlation between red meat and cancer.

Meat and other processed foods are notorious for their delicious and savory taste, but how much meat and processed foods are worth the risk?

Meat takes up most of our monthly intake; whether it’s a day out with family, a lunch with friends or a simple home alone dinner, meat is there. The consumption of high fast foods such as meat has rapidly increased throughout the years, as well as the intake of fast foods.

Meat and pork are included in most popular fast food dishes. However, thanks to the varieties of pre packaged food the possibilities seem endless.
There is no use of denying it, most people love the taste of pork, meat, fresh grilled chicken and a handful of fries. Honestly, I mean, who wouldn’t want to enjoy delicious foods every day of their life?

Not to mention that not many have time to cook, prepare a meal, and restaurants seem to be right around the corner to snack up on goodies and binge eat them throughout the day or in one sitting. Nowadays, It’s much easier and cheaper to obtain unhealthy and processed foods, rather than healthy, nutritious vegetables and whole fruits.

Health risks go higher as people choose to rely on fast food as their regular meal. However, not everyone has the option of fresh home cooked meals, due to the struggle of poverty in America. Again, another reason for obesity in America.

It’s not very unlikely for obesity in the U.S to increase even more. In fact, Obesity in America has doubled throughout the years. We might not be the fattest country out there, but we do happen to be close.

With all the advertising and glorifying of prepackaged food, adults are not the only ones being persuaded. Fast food companies strategically use toys to put in kids meal for children, thus enriching their own companies wealth. That’s very clever on their part.

According to CDC, the amount of obesity in children has increased the last 30 years. Most busy parents don’t have time to prepare home cooked meals for their kids, so again, this is another reason why obesity in children has doubled.

In another note, school lunches are not very nutritious and healthy. It’s estimated that most children get their meals if not twice, at least once in school.

Furthermore, the research involving red meat have escalated when it comes to health issues. Yes, meat does contain protein, but having too much of anything isn’t the wisest decision. Many use the excuse of needing “Protein” in their diet, but their are other ways to get protein, besides meat.

Sure, not many of us are a fan of veggies, but some are a good alternative for protein. Foods such as: lentils, beans, peas, nuts and broccoli (broccoli actually is known to have more protein than meat)

People that consume meat on daily bases or deal with high cholesterol are more likely to suffer from obesity, heart attacks and yes, cancer.

New studies show that perhaps by lowering your meat intake, you might live longer. However, this is actually a very well discussed topic and many have been confused over the fact that if meat is or isn’t an extreme health risk.

Being a vegetarian, I don’t actually worry about my meat consumption, but I never try to make people feel less for their choices of eating meat, chicken or pork. People have a lot of misconceptions over vegetarians. Not all of us eat healthy everyday, not most of us like vegetables and speaking for myself, I’ll admit, I love junk food. Everyone is entitled to eating what they want and I feel that the whole “meat causes cancer thing” is a little too over dramatic. Meat does contain a lot of fat, but sometimes that fat is essential for your well being.

People nowadays are just overreacting about the health risks that come with eating meat (especially processed meat).

Nevertheless, there have been some theories that by not eating meat it may expands how long you live. yet some people who have lived a decent amount of years, are known to be meat lovers. Yes, reducing the amount of processed foods and limiting the meat you consume are good for your health, but when it comes to the amount of years you have yet to live, Genes and the history of your family have a big impact in determining your lifespan. Not to mention the life risks there already are because of cars crashes, trains, diseases and natural disasters.

In all serious matters, if you don’t eat meat then this might not even be an issue for you and if you eat meat in moderate amounts than you shouldn’t be too focused on the health risk that come with eating meat as well, but if you are struggling with your meat intake and feel that meat consist of your everyday meal than it might be a good idea to limit the amount of meat you eat.
