Upcoming A24 films

A24 is a film and television production company based in Manhattan and was founded in 2012. Its films have had a major influence on the film and entertainment industry, and is known primarily for their productions authenticity and creativity, knowingly pushing many boundaries when it comes to television. They have gained a very positive reputation for producing  significantly different kinds of television compared to other major studios. Some of their most popular films include, Lady Bird (2017), Midsommar (2019), and Ex Machina (2015). Considering their past success, it’s no doubt 2024 will be a successful year for A24. Here are 5 upcoming A24 films. 

MaxXxine, the highly anticipated sequel to the acclaimed film ‘X,’ features what happened to the protagonist Maxxxine of the original narrative. The original film was released back in 2022 and was well received by critics. 

Starring Mia Goth as Maxine and singer-songwriter Halsey, Elizabeth Debicki, and Lily Collins, MaxXine is sure to be one of the best horror films of 2023. Produced by A24, the film is set to release on July 5, 2024

Y2K is a disaster comedy film about the last night of 1999, two high school juniors crash a New Years Eve party, only to find themselves fighting for their lives in this dial-up disaster comedy. Release date for this film is still TBD. Starring Jenna Ortega and Rachel Zegler, it’s sure to be a fun film for a movie night

Honorable mention to an already released A24 film which came out earlier this month is Problemista. This film surrounds aspiring toy designer from El Salvador, Alejandro(Julia Torres), who struggles to bring his unusual ideas to life in New York City. As time on his work visa runs out, a job assisting an art world outcast becomes his only hope to stay in the country and find his aspirations.The film was well received and has approximately $385,000 in the box office

I saw the TV glow is a horror/thriller film surrounding Teenager Owen (Justice Smith), who is just trying to make it through life in the suburbs when his classmate introduces him to a mysterious late-night TV show — a vision of a supernatural world beneath their own. In the pale glow of the television, Owen’s view of reality begins to crack. This film is set to release on May 3rd, and is being produced by actress Emma Stone.

Civil war is about a dystopian future America, a team of military-embedded journalists racing against time to reach Washington, D.C., before rebel factions descend upon the White House.

As you may have noticed, A24 does specialize in horror and thriller films, which really does add to their aesthetic and their appeal. If you love horror, thriller, or comedy, A24 is the studio for you. As predicted, 2024 will be a very good year for A24, and you won’t be waiting for too long for these movies to come out, as most will be out by summer, making them the perfect summer movie night films !
