One Love, Bob Marley’s new biopic, captivates and dives into Marley’s life and the struggles he faced growing up. The film begins with one of Marley’s interviews which gives a sense of deja vu with the contrast between his youth and his adult self, demonstrating Marley’s upbringing. It depicts Marley’s strong love for music and the confusion of being raised without his father in the picture, especially considering that he was a White man. This is a film that taught everyone a lot about Bob Marley by overcoming every single adversity ain his life. It shows the strength and guts he had in order to become the greatest and biggest reggae singer. The fact that the focused stayed on Marley’s life is what makes this film so special and different from others, the essence of Jamaica and its struggles during the 1970s as well as this film not americanized and just stood up to a lot of the audience also the whole film was in Jamaican English captivating and taking the viewers on a journey through a world of struggles that marley faced, nothing being sugar coated is what personally made me feel a million emotions.
Senior Ronald Parada said “I really enjoyed Bob Marley: One Love. I watched it the day it was released in theaters and resonated with its messages of peace immediately. Bob Marley deserves to be remembered for his work, not only in a musical space, but in a social space. This film did a great job showing the good and the not so good side of Marley’s life, making emphasis on all his good deeds and what he stood for.” God sent me on earth. He sent me to do something, and nobody can stop me. If God want to stop me, then I stop. Man never can.
