Festive films for a cozy night
Winter officially starts on Dec. 21st and what better way to celebrate the season than by watching the perfect winter film? These four festive film picks are all great movies to watch as the cold weather sets in.
These films are a range of picks from a lighthearted romcom full of playful witty banter, a period romantic drama that tells the tale of four sisters, a stop motion animation full of whimsical music and beautiful shots, and the tale of a chosen wizard journey at his first year at Hogwarts wizarding school.
These films all included aspects and elements of the chilled season.
From a new years eve party turned love confession to even a plan to kidnap and replace Santa Claus, these films will definitely get you ready for the winter. The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
The 1993 musical, fantasy, and stop-motion production follows Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King, who originally lives in PumpkinTown in his attempt to escape the mundaneness of his daily routine when he stumbles upon Christmas town. As he begins to fall in love with all the town has to offer, he decides on a plan to kidnap and replace Santa.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (2001)
The 2001 film adaptation of the first Novel in the widely successful Harry Potter Series, centers around an eleven-year-old boy who discovers he is a wizard and has a magical gift. The film follows his journey around his first year at Hogwarts, a Wizarding school, while he tackles new friendships, discovers the truth behind his parent’s death and even battles the dark lord.
Little Women (2019)
The Greta Gerwig’s seventh film adaptation of the 1868 novel, Little Women centers around four sisters Jo, Amy, Meg and Beth on their personal journeys growing up through the American Civil War. The plot deals with the girls on their personal journeys and experiences with their own careers, sexism in the nineteenth century, sibling relationships, childhood romances, new relationships and an unexpected illness that helps br

When Harry Met Sally (1989)
The 1989 romance comedy follows the two characters over the course of 10 years. They first met on an 18-hour car ride from Chicago to New York which didn’t go too well. The two continuously pop up in each other’s lives over the film’s course. The two’s dry humor, banter, and stubbornness create a very slow burn and complicated relationship as they slowly begin to fall in love with each other.
