Kanye West’s latest album “Donda” breaks Apple Music records
Kanye West released his newest album “Donda” on Sunday, August 29, 2021, and debuted on music streaming services such as Apple Music, Spotify, and many more. Kanye, popularly known as “Ye”, named his newest album after his late mother,
Donda West who passed away on Nov. 10, 2007. “Donda” set a new record on Apple Music for “#1 streamed album” in over 150 countries around the world. Some of the countries where “Donda” was most streamed include the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, Austria, Mexico, Jordan, Guatemala and many other countries have “Donda” in the top three most streamed albums.
West had three listening parties for “Donda” and his last night in his hometown Chicago, where the event was sold out at Chicago’s Soldier field which is home to the Chicago Bears. “Donda” was expected to be released in early August after Kanye hosted his first listening party at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, but was not released which became a very trending topic on social media platforms like “Twitter” and “Instagram” and caused his fans to erupt on social media after being lied about the famous album being released.
Kanye also had changed the name of the album twice in which the first time the album was named “Yandhi” and was scheduled to release in the summer of 2019 but was not released, the second time Ye had named the album “Donda” and was supposed to be released in the summer of 2020, but was also not released until the morning of Aug. 29.
Many of Kanye’s fans were very surprised by the unexpected release and have enjoyed the album along with many hip-hop fans.
“Donda” reached over 60 million streams on Apple Music in the United States in its first two days of release, and also set another record of most streamed album in first 24 hours which was previously set by Olivia Rodrigo.
“Donda” had a total of 27 songs and the listening time was approximately 1 hour and 49 minutes. West worked with many artists like The Weeknd, Travis Scott, JAY-Z, Lil Baby, Playboi Carti, Kid Cudi,and many more on “Donda”.

Kanye had no idea of his album being released by “Universal Music Group” without his approval and had addressed on Instagram by posting and saying “UNIVERSAL PUT MY ALBUM OUT WITHOUT MY APPROVAL,” and quickly deleted the post hours after, but Kanye has left “Donda” which is his tenth studio album to be available on all streaming platforms.
