Oscar views make a comeback in 2020
Recently one of the biggest TV events happened, the Oscars. The point of the event is to celebrate good movies and actors. It can also help Netflix with their movies.
“Watching the Oscars has been a yearly tradition for me and it’s something that I look forward to. I really like that they had no host because it made the award show more interesting to watch,” freshman Brittany Linares said.
Besides sports events, the Oscars is the most watched award show on TV. With this fact, views have been dropping in past years. In 2018 there was a decline in views, with 26 million people watching. In 2019 they did redeem themselves with 29 million views, this is because they tried something new and didn’t have a host to take over the show.
“I really enjoy watching the Oscars with my family each years because I have a chance to see my favorite movies win awards,” freshman Ruftana Beyene said.
With no host it increased the views 12% in the last five years. This is the biggest jump they’ve seen in a while. In recent years, the amount of diversity has changed a lot. With one of the most diverse and biggest movies, Black Panther, winning three Oscars.
“I always watch the Oscars with my friends each year and this year’s Oscars was really interesting. They tried the no host idea again this year and it was more interesting that way,” freshman Catherine Connell said
