Some of Marvel’s best superheroes unite in the years most anticipated, action-packed film, The Avengers. Even if you aren’t familiar with the individual stories of Thor, Iron Man, Captain America or The Hulk, this film is still a must-see movie.
It begins with Loki, Thor’s evil brother, who plans on taking over Earth by stealing a cube of sustainable energy. After the mere mortals tasked with preventing anything from happening to the cube, fail to protect it, Nick Fury calls in help from the universe’s superheroes: Black Widow, Thor, Iron Man, The Hulk and Captain America.
Despite the large amount and dynamic of the characters, director and writer Joss Whedon perfectly balances them and focuses more on them as an incompatible group of heroes that become an all-star team, rather than each individual’s trial and triumphs.
The action of the film was great too. Each fight had just the right amount of special effects to have you gripping your seats in anticipation. But the action was not even the best part; the film was surprisingly hilarious, especially Iron Man/Tony Stark played by Robert Downey Jr., whose sarcasm and arrogance had viewers laughing out loud. The combination of characters and genres definitely made the film memorable.
The team dynamic and rivalry, which is finally squashed at the end of the film, gives viewers a warm feeling, and of course there is a little suspense at the end that leaves enough room for a sequel.
