The title of Maroon 5’s newest single, “Misery,” is, to say the least, a complete opposite of what most people will experience once they hear the popular group’s new album, Hands All Over.
The tracks have a pleasant amount of variety in style and sound. Like previous hits by Maroon 5, all of the songs are centered around crisp, clean vocals, catchy melodies, and expressive lyrics. From pop-infused piano ballads, fast beats resembling techno music, to even a mellow collaboration with Lady Antebellum entitled “Out of Goodbyes,” the difference between songs is sure to please a large crowd.
Hands All Over is the group’s third studio album, following the triple platinum, hugely successful release of Songs About Jane in 2002, which included hits such as “She Will Be Loved” and “This Love.” In 2007, they released It Won’t Be Soon Before Long, which included popular hits “Makes Me Wonder” and “Won’t Go Home Without You.”
Songs to look for on the new album that are especially good are “Misery” because of its nearly impossible to forget tune-literally, this song stays in your head for days- and also because of its upbeat feel. Another interesting track is “Get Back in My Life,” which sounds like a rock and roll song but also has jazzy undertones. If you’re more of a fan of slow songs, “Just A Feeling” incorporates soulful harmonies and a soft tone.
The group has always had a huge emphasis on touring, with several headlining tours lasting over a year each. The tour for their new album will begin in October and continue until March 2011. They will tour throughout the U.S. and their international tour will include dates across Europe.
So if you are looking for an album that offers a modern pop vibe with classic melodies and vocals, look no further than Hands All Over, and be sure to catch Maroon 5 on tour this fall and winter if you’re a fan!
