The wildly popular new TV sensation, Glee, appreared on Fox for its second season at the special time of 9:28 last Tuesday after American Idol.
The explosive premier episode jumped right back into all the drama of last season that left people wanting more.
Leaving no time for the viewer to question who will be the Glee club’s new foe, the principal reinstated the infamous cheerio coach, Sue Slyvester, after breifly explaining how she blackmailed her way back into the position.
They also introduced the new problem that will guide the Glee club’s purpose for the rest of the season and maybe even longer. Although the club had proved that they were good enough to win sectionals, the principal now threathens to take away the club and their funding if they do not place at regionals.
With this new dilemma came new characters, the leader of Vocal Adrenaline Jesse and their coach. These new characters made the complicated love relationships between, Finn and Rachel, and Schuester and Emma even more entangled then last season.
The key factor that makes it versitile to an audience of all ages is the focus on all characters both young and old. The large cast also makes the show appealing because they seem to fill all the quintessential roles of a typical high school. These include he overachiever, the geek, the evil teacher, the jock, and the superficial cheerleader.
Aside from all the, drama the episode did not forget to focus on the heart of the show, musical numbers. Most find musical oriented shows and movies annoying because they break into song at random place and times. However, Glee does a good job of intergrating the plot and the musical numbers so that it does not seem abrupt when breaking into a musical number.
The show is definetly in it for the long hall and has all the ingridients to create to last on prime time.
