It may seem like another Adam Sandler chick flick where he gets the girl, but the surprisingly hilarious twist of lies and betrayals seem to pull it all together with an enjoyably entertaining bow. However, while Sandler seemed to be the star, Nick Swardson takes the spotlight with his natural ability to be riotous in the comedic field.
Sandler plays Danny who is a nice guy but seems to be bad with the ladies, shown though his calling off his wedding the day it was scheduled. After ending the wedding, he heads to the bar with his wedding ring still around his finger. He soon meets a woman who is only willing to talk to him because of his wedding ring. He realizes that women are more attracted to men who are already taken by some odd phenomenon. Ten years in the future, Danny is a successful plastic surgeon but continues to use the old wedding ring trick to attract women.
When at a party, Danny meets the young, gorgeous, child-loving schoolteacher, Palmer (Decker). They connect immediately but the next morning, she finds the ever so famous wedding ring. He fumbles to make up an excuse but inevitably convinces Palmer that he has two children with his assistant, Katherine (Aniston), who is also a soon to be divorced wife. This is where all of the charades being.
When introducing the family to Palmer, Danny finds himself forced to go to Hawaii because the children find it necessary to fulfill their wishes. With Palmer being a sucker for children, Danny is stuck with a last minute trip to Hawaii. In walks Danny’s Cousin Eddie (Swardson) who tags along with Danny as he plays Dolf, the man Katherine is so called “cheating” on Danny with.
Hawaii is where Danny realizes how beautiful and connected he was with Katherine. Unfortunately, he did not notice this because she wore glasses and dressed very conservatively at the office. A tad lame, but it is Sandler we are talking about. Palmer begins to show her ditsy, ‘N Sync-loving self. This pushes Danny away and closer to Sandler whose plans to originally propose to Palmer were revealed by Eddie.
The most important decision of Danny’s life is revealed. Choose the gorgeous and young Palmer or the sweet and caring friend Katherine, who knows everything about him. It does not sound like a difficult decision does it? Well it is not because obviously, Katherine is chosen and Palmer meets her own ‘N Sync-lover of her own on the plane back. They get married and Danny has a wedding ring that is a true symbol of marriage between him, and the love of his life.
If you are looking for a great romantic comedy, “Just Go with It” seems to be a good choice, despite its typical and cheesy plot devises. However, “Just Go with It” will be truly enjoyable if you just go with it.
