A thrilling space exploration game or a walking simulator?

By Kevin Flores

On September 6th, Gaming studio Bethesda released their most ambitious project yet. “Starfield” is an action space adventure game that would take you beyond the reaches of our solar system. But just mere days before the game officially was released for all to play. A tweet was posted in what appeared to show the player walking aimlessly through a desert planet for a good 15 minutes until encountering a base. This started internet users to bash the game and call it a “walking simulator” but is it really?

I played the game on its release and it was kind of boring at first. I can’t lie to myself. But after around 10 minutes the game picks up steam when they give you a gun to shoot at space pirates. After that you obtain a spaceship and the game branches off with its story. I then got bored and started playing Batman Arkham Knight. The game has cool mechanics, especially its upgrade system with many types of classes to pick from. But overall I think this game can be enjoyable if your willinging to go through the first couple hours of boring content as appearly later on the game becomes interesting and exciting.

Starfield is only available on Xbox Series X and PC for $70 or get it for free on a Xbox Game pass subscription for $60 a year.
