As Homecoming season approaches the talk among students includes the powerpuff football game, bonfire and the dance. After last year’s dance with the emergency lights on and expensive ticket price, many students are debating about whether or not they’re going to attend this year’s dance.
“Homecoming was absolutely horrible and boring last year because it was too hot and the music was really bad,” sophomore Sureyya Gokturk said.
The crowded cafeteria and fact that most people flock to the middle makes for heated temperatures in the center of the dance floor. The not so ideal conditions last year are making students question whether or not the event is worth attending.
“Last year the dance was pretty lame so I don’t want to waste my money on it this year. It’s fun going with friends but the tickets are kind of pricey and having to do the whole corsage thing and pay for a girl’s dinner is a lot of money for one night,” junior James Terrell said.
Many people like the aspect of dressing up with their friends and taking pictures, but the dance itself isn’t something to get excited about. Girls enjoy searching for the perfect dress and the surprise of being asked by a guy.
Sophomore Amanda Villafana didn’t think Homecoming was that great last year but plans on going anyways this year.
“I want to wear a pretty dress, take pictures and eat with friends.”
